
Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO) Program
The Department of Veterans Affairs launched the Veterans Justice Outreach program to prevent unnecessary criminalization of mental illness among veterans and to reduce repeat encounters with the legal system.

The Veterans Support Pilot by CJA
CJA has recently relaunched the Veterans Support Pilot as a pilot program in Manhattan. Its goal is to identify veterans during the pretrial process—typically the first time a person appears in court after an arrest—and connect them to relevant services through Veteran Justice Outreach program or other providers.

Research Study for Justice-Involved Veterans
A VA-funded research study by a Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC) team is looking for ways to best support justice-involved veterans.
