
Jamala Wallace joined CJA as Research Practice Coordinator in 2021 and was promoted to Senior Research Practice Coordinator in 2022. She works closely with CJA’s Research, Operations, and Outreach teams to support data tracking, evaluation for pilots, and potential funding opportunities to improve programmatic and criminal legal outcomes for those directly impacted. Prior to joining CJA, Jamala worked at One Fair Wage, where she conducted mixed-method research documenting the experience of low-wage workers during the pandemic and developed policy briefs and recommendations for improving their outcomes. She also has conducted qualitative research studying those directly impacted by NYC’s mental health and criminal legal system at Mental Health Project part of the Urban Justice Center. Jamala has her M.S. in Public and Urban Policy from the New School. She graduated in 2015 from Saint Louis University with a B.A. in Political Science.
