Food

I’m having a hard time getting food for my family - what should I do?

There are a number of food assistance providers in New York City that provide free or affordable food for you and your family.

  • If you want to find your nearest community kitchen, food pantry, or soup kitchen, you can look at this interactive map.

  • Here is a list of the NeON Nutritional Kitchens in each of the boroughs, which provide free, non-perishable food, healthy recipes, and nutrition tips and guidance.

  • If you want to apply for SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps), you can apply here or you can call the SNAP infoline (718-557-1399) to speak with someone about your application. This website has additional information about eligibility, the application process, and more.

Do you have other questions about food not answered here? If so, call the CJA Helpline (646-213-2683, press 4) to talk to an Outreach Member and see if you can get the answer to your question.
