High quality research requires a high standard of ethics
CJA’s research staff is dedicated to data-driven innovations, policies and programs which reduce unnecessary impediments to pretrial liberty of individuals, including pretrial detention. In advancing pretrial justice through research we are committed to respecting the rights of the presumed innocent and their families who provide information.
We seek data collaborations with stakeholders and leading experts in the field of pretrial justice in our quest for ways to improve the quality of justice and secure safe communities. We aim for maximum transparency as we develop, implement and evaluate new ideas with both local and national implications.
However, of paramount importance whether performing in-house or collaborative research is the protection of the identity of individuals unless information sharing is required by law, permitted in the interest of justice, or through informed consent.
