Terry Salo has more than 30 years’ experience managing criminal justice research, policy and programs, including nearly 20 years at the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. As Deputy Commissioner at DCJS, she managed criminal justice research and statistical analysis in areas including crime, pretrial, adult and juvenile court case processing, reentry, and recidivism. She played a key role in developing a wide range of policy and legislative initiatives and led cross agency efforts to assess the impact of major legislation such as Rockefeller drug law reform, Raise the Age and bail reform. Prior to joining DCJS, Terry served as the Director of Policy Analysis at the NYS Division of Parole. Additionally, Terry spent nine years at the NYS Division of Budget with oversight responsibility for numerous criminal justice agencies. Terry holds a Master of Public Administration from the University at Albany and retired from DCJS in 2021.
