
Raven Simonds joined CJA as a Research Analyst in early 2022, where she previouslt acted as Associate Director of Applied Research. She co-led a federally funded grant to better understand the experiences of those who were detained pretrial whose cases were later dismissed using trauma-informed practices. In this role, she also collaborated with multiple departments within CJA to provide practically useful and methodologically sound knowledge on pretrial issues in New York City.
Her additional research interests include social support and social networks, reentry, and applied quantitative methods. Prior to joining CJA, Raven was a Project Manager and Research Assistant in the Center for Correctional Solutions at Arizona State University. Here, she managed the day-to-day activities of multiple federally funded grants related to institutional corrections and programming, and reentry from prison. She received her Ph.D. from Arizona State University with an additional certificate in Social Science Research Methods.
