
Khanya Collier joined CJA as a Research Assistant in November 2020 and was promoted to Senior Research Assistant in December 2021. Prior to joining CJA, Khanya received her B.S. in Policy Analysis and Management, with a minor in Inequality Studies from Cornell University. As part of her Capstone course, she worked on an evaluation of a New York Parent Education and Awareness Program certified initiative “Parents Apart” in Ithaca, a co-parenting education program for separating parents. She also has experience studying and providing technical assistance for the implementation of the Crossover Youth Practice Model as a Research Assistant at Georgetown University’s Center for Juvenile Justice Reform. In addition, she is interested in prison and mass incarceration reform, as well as the intersection of incarceration and education. She served as a Teaching Assistant in the Cornell Prison Education Program, and studied the provision of formal education at Westville Prison in Durban, South Africa, in accordance with the country’s reformed attitude toward criminal justice.
