“I was so proud of our staff at that time because we rallied,” Travis recalled later. “We were committed to providing our service to everybody who was ‘locked up’ so that the work of judges would be informed by what we thought was important about their background.”
“That was the summer where CJA came of age. It was like we were defending our core methodology whenever it came under attack,” Travis would later say. “Notwithstanding some pretty difficult challenges, during a really difficult summer we survived and thrived.”
